[ All of it catches Agreas so much off guard that he's easily pulled a little closer again by Elijah. Even if he wasn't, it'd still be easy - he feels so much guilt towards the omega that he'd let the other punch him if it would make him feel any better, honestly.
But it doesn't seem like that is what Elijah needs. Because Elijah softly speaks up, but it's about nothing that Agreas might have anticipated.. because the implication is really heavy in just about everything about the other right now. And he knows that Elijah isn't the type to lie or sugarcoat anything, he's painfully direct if he wants anything. Or rather, he's never seen Elijah be avoidant of anything other than asking people for help at least half of the time.
The one that Elijah did call for help.. it was him every time. It's true. But Agreas never viewed it the way the other did. It wasn't that he accepted the risk, it was that he had completely convinced himself to resist his urges no matter what. That he could be strong enough for Elijah's sake, since.. since he wanted the other to be happy. Ever since the day they found out he was an alpha and Elijah an omega, it had just felt natural to him to do this much for him. Elijah hated it so much, and Agreas.. he wanted to see him happy. Somehow. Despite the circumstances. It wasn't as if Elijah had ever been a particularly outwardly happy or brightly smiling person before, sure, but Agreas didn't want to see him having to be gloomy about the rest of his life. Agreas is the kind of guy that has a hard time closing his eyes when he sees suffering, and Elijah is even more at the top of his list when it comes to that. Because he's always been important to him already - in some way, even if it wasn't this.
Not until now.
It still feels a little hard to reach out towards Elijah, yet part of him wants to. He's not sure if it's some new subconscious desire after having claimed Elijah or if it's just that he really wants to make sure the other is alright, but it's definitely there. It's why Agreas' hands moves a little, like he's going to touch Elijah, but it doesn't get much further than his fingertips brushing a little against the other's shoulder before his hand drops again.
Elijah chose him, he consciously asked him for help, he does know that, and he knows the other is lying, but.. he's still not sure of the full extent of it. It feels like hoping for a little too much to just think everything might still be okay, even though this happened. Because the idea of Elijah being his omega, circumstances aside, makes him feel...
Like butterflies in his stomach. Like a warm feeling at the thought of just how cute Elijah looks when he's all vulnerable. Like.. God. Even by his standards, that's just-- ]
Did you.. want it? Even this far, I mean.
[ It's still a little hard to think of what to say, and it means it isn't coming out all coherently - but the core of it is still there, and something a little like hope glimmers at the corners of Agreas' eyes. Even this far.. even to the point that they're mated now. Elijah doesn't mind even that? ]
