[ Hyunsoo used to be the type who just was straight up knocked out the moment he put his head down on a pillow to sleep - maybe that's why tonight annoys him so much. Because he's already turned over about 25 times in just the last ten minutes and he's still not asleep. He doesn't even know why he can't sleep. It's just annoying without any good reason.
.. not like it's the only thing around that's annoying for no reason.
As he sits up, pulling a hand through his already slightly messy hair from rolling around so much, he stares at the door. Would he still be up? Vampire or not, that guy probably never has any trouble sleeping when he feels like it. It's like the small things in life never seem to bother him as much - almost like a cosmic force. (An extremely annoying one.)
Hyunsoo untangles himself from his blanket, slowly standing up. He can't sleep right now anyway, so he might as well go bother Yejun. That guy always bothers him anyway, it's only fair, right? His time for revenge, because how dare that guy maybe be sleeping soundly now while he's awake. So annoying how it always ends up being the way he wants it.
(It's certainly not that he feels like he might be able to feel more at ease and actually sleep when he's a little closer to him. Why the hell would he ever think that? As if.)
At least fear is the last emotion he'd feel towards the other guy, so Hyunsoo has absolutely no problem in that respect with opening the door to his room and wandering in, despite what the other might be and what his rank is. Yejun is just Yejun-- just an annoying guy who never seems to be able to shut up when it'd be so much easier on Hyunsoo if he would. Vampire king of Busan, whatever..
Without wasting any words or even proper eye contact on this action (because he just knows it'd be another opportunity to make fun of him, he knows it, he knows it, so let's just ignore it and go to sleep) Hyunsoo wanders over to the bed and flops down on it, not even bothering to make himself comfortable or draw the blanket over himself. The only thing he does make sure of is that he lands with his back towards Yejun, because he definitely doesn't want to see the look on the other's face. It's annoying, he can guess that with 100% certainty without having to see it for himself.
There, like this it's fine, right? No need to comment on an action like this out of the blue. Obviously. Clearly. ]
[It might seem like he's a lazy asshole who can sleep soundly during the day because nothing weighs on his conscience, but...but no "but", he is a lazy asshole. The night's activities have no business keeping him up during the day too. He's a busy guy, so he needs all eight hours. Deserves them, too. And he always gets them through sheer willpower of not wanting to be awake any longer. Sleep is such a great thing. Whoever said vampires don't like to sleep...or sleep in coffins, or...whatever- that's not him.
And whenever he's asleep, he most certainly wants to stay asleep until he wakes up on his own. Which is why no one's supposed to come into his room- or even knock unless its REALLY IMPORTANT. (What counts as "important" can definitely get subjective).
But some people have no sense of respect. Because what kind of self-respecting flunkie of his would just waltz right into his room, unannounced, like they own the place? It's a trick question. He absolutely knows who would- because there isn't anyone else that'd try it (or get away with it).
And pretty much the instant the door opens, Yejun's awake and wearing the exact expression that Hyunsoo had imagined.
He can stand being woken up at ass-o'-clock, if its for something like this...especially...crawling into bed with him? Hooo boy, that's even more than he'd been expecting. He gets it, Hyunsoo. A king has a king-sized bed, after all. It's very comfy. Even though it has nothing to do with the bed itself, does it?
It's cute how Hyunsoo won't even look at him though- as part of his weird need to act like he doesn't care, probably. But if he thinks Yejun is just going to let him curl up and go to sleep without a word...he still doesn't know Yejun very well.
He leans over- his head noisily sliding over the pillow cover until he's right up against the back of the boy's neck.]
Ahhh...what do we have here? Breaking and entering into a king's room? That's punishable by death, you know.
[If he really wanted it to be, it then it would be. Just so that's clear. Except there's absolutely nothing threatening about his voice...Ok. Maybe it'd be sort of vaguely threatening- if you didn't know him, or you weren't Hyunsoo.]
[ Just like most people might, Hyunsoo freezes up at the death threat. Except it's not that part that does it, actually - mostly since he tenses up at the very first sound that leaves the other guy's mouth rather than those specific words. What gets to him is the fact that despite his own desire to just go sleep now, Yukyun is intending to make a Big Deal out of it. Or, well, at least A Deal, even if it might not be a big one. And what Hyunsoo doesn't feel like when he just wants to drop asleep is talking about what he's doing here out loud. It's way too embarrassing.
Compared to that the death threat doesn't faze him nearly as much. Probably since he knows he wouldn't go through it with it. Not with him, anyway. And even on top of that.. well, he's already pretty much put his life in Yukyun's hands from the very moment he agreed to all this. Even though he doesn't particularly want to die and is pretty terrified at the idea of someone (or something, he's still a little unsettled about some aspects of this whole vampire business) killing him, it would be okay if it was Yukyun. He's decided to follow the guy, to make that the direction of his life, so it's all up to him whether it's life or death for him. It's like giving your best friend the keys to your favourite car - you don't want them to damage it, but if they would, you would probably forgive them because of who they are to you.
He quickly tries to drop the tension though (Yukyun noticing that would only make things more embarrassing) and instead grumbles, his words half muffled by the blanket. Probably on purpose. ]
Who do you think made this bed earlier today..
[ And washed the sheets. And vaccuumed the floor. And did just about every single other chore in this place. Does he look like a housewife or something? A maid? By the way, that's a rethorical question since the answer is obviously no, he doesn't, why does he got to do this stuff for a vampire who's just breathing on his neck!!
But after a moment where he's letting out a sound that sounds suspiciously like a huff, Hyunsoo tries to settle down a little more to at least try to give an answer. Mostly since he doesn't want Yukyun's mind to wander off on its own and make up some weird scenario that is very obviously not going on here. At all. Whatsoever.
He glances over his shoulder a little to catch at least a glimpse of the other guy, even if he still doesn't want to see that full expression. ]
I couldn't sleep. Your bed is better. [ Do the math, really.
Even if it's absolutely true that it's not about the bed at all. The kind of bed has never mattered much to Hyunsoo, not even in the past. It's more just that he now knows just how much weird shit is out there, so he feels the most comfortable letting his guard down far enough to sleep around the one person he would trust with his life - because he's already given it to him, more or less. ]
[A guy coming and getting into his bed in the middle of the day is absolutely something he is going to make a Deal out of.]
Of course my bed's better. What do you think this is? I'm not gonna settle for second best if I don't have to.
[But as much as he (obviously) loves giving Hyunsoo a hard time with this, Yukyun really doesn't mind him staying either. Which should be made clear by the fact that Hyunsoo's still here and pointedly hasn't been kicked out already. But Hyunsoo always seems to like (" ") things laid on a little thick, and if that's the case...he's come to the right guy's bed.
Yukyun slides one arm underneath Hyunsoo's side- gripping onto his waist and reeling him in a little closer. Not a moment later, and his other hand lazily starts fussing with the blankets to pull them out from underneath the boy. God, make yourself comfortable at least. Does he have to do everything?
And if Hyunsoo didn't want anyone touching him...that's too damn bad! He could've stayed in his own bed!]
No wonder you couldn't sleep. Don't you know how to use one of these?
[In all actuality, he'd considered this before anyway- bringing Hyunsoo to stay in his room. It's a great idea...having his right hand man accessible whenever he needs him? What if he does wake up when he's sleeping- hungry for a midday snack? What if he needs someone to fluff his pillows? (Yes, plural. Everyone knows more pillows = more comfort. Hell, he should have his entire bed covered in pillows). As it stands, he probably won't need Hyunsoo for either of those things, because he sleeps like the dead (hah). But still...what if he did? Having Hyunsoo next to him would save him the few extra minutes it'd take to get out of bed and go yell at him to come in. Of course he's not going to do any of that himself. Who would when someone else is perfectly able...and willing?
In return...if it helps Hyunsoo sleep more soundly at night, that's all for the better. Everyone wins. Yukyun might act like it's all a big joke, but he knows vampire land can be a pretty damn big change. Kind of like a massive culture shock, except a more dangerous, and permanent one. Besides, he's responsible for Hyunsoo's well-being at any rate. Someone's gotta keep his fragile human ass safe, so it might as well be the actual man he'd given his life to.
But then why hadn't he brought the idea up on his own...? That should be obvious too. He wanted to see if Hyunsoo would come crawling in on his own eventually. And he did. A hell of a lot faster than Yukyun was expecting...what a nice surprise. Life is good.]
[ Oh, honestly, it's not that Hyunsoo didn't want anyone to touch him. It might be what he'd proclaim out loud, but honestly, he likes it. Even if he would have been fine just sleeping there with his back towards Yukyun for the rest of the day, it's not as if this isn't better. He can feel his face starting to heat up (embarrassment? contentment? he'd say the first for sure, even if it's much more likely to at least be a mix of both) the moment that arm sneaks under him and then around him. Yukyun might lack body heat and all because of what he is, but it doesn't mean that Hyunsoo still can't feel that the other is obviously closer to him now.
His heart is racing. Absolutely racing in his chest, and he hates it - the only thing he can do is hope that the other doesn't notice. ]
Of course I know how to use a bed, do you think I'm stupid?!
[ To give his statement a little bit more power to it and to at the same time make it a little easier to get the blankets out from under him to cover them both instead, he rolls over within the other's grip--
Except he obviously didn't expect the other to be this close by the time he lands with his face towards Yukyun. His eyes go wide in surprise, his cheeks still definitely a deep shade of pink.
He tries to not let the deer-in-headlights stare go on for too long, but it still feels like five centuries in his heart before he finally sputters out something else instinctively, desperate to cover himself up here. ]
Y-- y-yah, what do you think you're doing?!
[ Does him just lying there offend you too now, Hyunsoo.. is that it.. ]
[It's really great how Yukyun doesn't even have to put extra effort into embarrassing Hyunsoo. He never does. Hell...what has he done so far? Said a few words, moved a little closer...? Yeah, that's abouuuut it. Hyunsoo's doing a fine enough job on his own. Save some fun for him too, huh? Actually, Hyunsoo's setting that up pretty well too.
Yukyun doesn't bother to suppress a laugh when the boy rolls over and still manages to look so startled by what he sees. It's too late in the day for him to try and exert anything like concealing the fact that he thinks it's hilarious. What did you expect, Hyunsoo? This is what happens when you get in a bed that someone else is already in.
And the problem with Hyunsoo trying to blame any foul play on Yukyun, is that he's A-OK about going along with it. You want to get offended by him laying there? Prepare to face the consequences.
If you count grabbing Hyunsoo's waist harder and yanking him even closer as a "consequence", anyway.]
What do I think I'm doing...in my room? On my bed? What kind of authority do you think you have here?
[Yukyun debates sitting up for half a second- partially to look more "threatening", and partially to help with the blanket-adjusting...and then decides screw that, he shouldn't even be awake right now. He can still look authoritative with his head on a big, comfortable pillow.]
Sleep is very important to a man like me. Don't you know? If you have to interrupt me, then you have to earn your keep. [No he doesn't, Yukyun's already decided he's staying.]
[ Yukyun doesn't even have to look authoritative to begin with. Mostly since that's never needed with Hyunsoo to begin with when it comes to this guy - despite all his grumbling and complaining, he still gets everything he has to do done - and partially since embarrassing him works way better than that to throw him off enough into doing something.
Like right now, for instance. Hyunsoo's pulled closer, practically yanked over, and it sure isn't helping any of the embarrassment he was already feeling to begin with. Staring at Yukyun with wide eyes and incredibly rosy cheeks, just.. gaping for a few moments. It's not even that he's intimidated, that would mean squeaking out an answer. No, this is purely just him being flustered at being this close to the other. In bed. At night-- or, well, day, but-- you know.
So even though it takes some wiggling on his part (look, you can't expect to hold him that tightly and expect him to do something about the blankets, yet he's doing it anyway with great difficulty) Hyunsoo manages to get them out from under him and pulls it up so it's covering the both of them now.
At least it gives him an excuse to not say anything for another moment or two, because.. god. What does he even say? What does he do? It's not like he didn't imagine this happening when he'd go over here, but it was just a dumb embarrassing fantasy, not something that was actually supposed to happen? He's totally not prepared in any way.
(Part of him wants to cuddle up closer against the other guy and bask in his presence, but he's trying to shoot that idea down so badly in his brain. He can't. Not that. No matter how nice that seems, doesn't his brain realise just how embarrassing that would be?) ]
Not like you told me to get out..
[ It's a little mumbled though, like a grumpy kid protesting against something. He has to tsun, since Hyunsoo doesn't know any other single way to deal with this situation, but at the same time being told to leave the bed is pretty much the last thing he wants right now.
[If Hyunsoo thought Yukyun started holding him to make things easier...well, he's wrong. Making Hyunsoo's life more difficult in really little ways is becoming something of a hobby, because where's the fun in letting him get off easily? And when he's supposed to be training? Besides, there's always an excuse up his sleeve. Always. Even though he makes sure they all like complete bullshit too. (Because a lot of them are).
Like that comment Hyunsoo just made? Here, he'll throw something out for that.]
Oohhh but that's not how things work here, is it? I didn't give you permission to stay either, did I...but here you are. A good test of nerves. You're passing, so far. Look! You even made it all the way under the covers.
[It's almost like they're two completely regular people sharing a bed. Almost.
Yukyun doubts he could actually sleep with Hyunsoo IN his arms though. He's way more used to having a giant bed to sleep on with all the space in the world. Sharing the space pretty ok, but he's not too into the idea of someone rolling onto him in the middle of the day.
The bed does feel pretty warm now that there's a human body under the blankets too. Blankets and pillows are great! They're very comfortable. But when you have no body heat of your own, it doesn't really do much for the temperature factor. Not that Yukyun minds the warmth...it's a pleasant feeling, if nothing else.]
But now that you've gone and woken me up, you'll have to think of a good way to get me back to sleep. Second part of earning your keep. Take responsibility.
[Said by someone who could put his head back on the pillow and fall asleep instantly.]
[ Under the covers sounds just about like where Hyunsoo wants to sink to right now. It's not possible with the way Yukyun is holding him in place, but his face is starting to burn so hot that he wishes he could just hide it from the other. All of this is so embarrassing, especially since Hyunsoo realises this is what he wanted to begin with and that it really does feel like a relief and oddly nice to be so close to the vampire. That's even more embarrassing than the teasing from the other, honestly, Hyunsoo always seems amazing at embarrassing himself before anyone else even has to do a thing.
It is a test of nerves, at least. He's not scared in the slightest that Yukyun will hurt him for any of this, despite the other being fully well in the position to be able to do that. Somehow that's not a possibility Hyunsoo is considering in his mind - the only thing he can think of is Yukyun kicking him out of the bed and sending him back to his own, leaving him to stew there all night in his own embarrassment, away from how nice Yukyun's arms feel around him. (Stop! Don't think about embarrassing things like that?!) The worst punishment of all.
But then the other guy talks on and those words snap Hyunsoo straight out of his own little mental embarrassment fit over here. His eyes grow wide at the statement, his jaw dropping on the spot. ]
W-what?! [ Maybe he should have seen it coming, considering Yukyun asks him for ridiculous things all the time, but somehow he never seems to get used to it enough to be able to predict it.. ]
How am I supposed to do that?!
[ It's not even a protest against having to do it for once.. Mostly since he's too preoccupied with wanting to make sure he can stay right here in this bed for the rest of the night one way or another. But there's still some panic in his voice all the same because he has absolutely no idea how to do this all the same. ]
I mean-- aren't vampires supposed to pass out automatically the moment the sun comes up? Isn't that how it's supposed to work?! [ In movies, maybe.. But those are all Hyunsoo has seen before he was pulled into this weird vampire side to the world. ]
[Hyunsoo's opinion on vampires is always pretty hilarious, because he just goes straight to all the crap he's seen in movies. Even if some of them got a few things right, there's always some other one that spouts complete nonsense. Yukyun never does a whole lot to correct him either, because he can't pass up the opportunity to play into it. Hyunsoo's just way too gullible for his own good.
Like right now. Yukyun gives a little "tsk tsk tsk" and wags his finger at the boy, like he's disappointed in his lack of knowledge.]
No, no. Don't be a bad student...haven't you been paying attention? That only works in coffins.
[He rolls over, so he's on his back and Hyunsoo's lying on his stomach now. It's like having a warm body pillow to hug, except it's an actual body.]
Do you want to try sleeping in one with me instead? We might fit this way. But you know...it might be hard for you to get out on your own, if I fall asleep.
[Don't test him, Hyunsoo. He's watched plenty of those vampire moves. Read all the books. Watched all the tv dramas.
He's lived a very long time, so he's got a vast collection of bullshit vampire knowledge. And it's stored away for this exact purpose- misleading a human who's gullible enough to believe him. Because why wouldn't you believe it when an actual vampire is the one telling it to you? It's the perfect plan.
You'd think he'd be a little more concerned with teaching Hyunsoo the real "how-to's" of being a vampire...seeing that he'll be turning him into one sooner or later. But you'd be wrong. Because that's not happening anytime soon, and Yukyun wants to get all the enjoyment he can out of this for now.]
[ He really is too gullible for his own good. Too gullible for someone who's been dragged into vampire affairs too, probably - so it's at least a good thing that Yukyun's intentions for him aren't bad. Or, well, not bad in a way Hyunsoo himself would mind, anyway. But what is bad is that Hyunsoo never has any way to know whether the other guy is serious or not. No matter what Yukyun is talking about, he always sounds the same.. which makes it completely impossible to tell lies and jokes from the truth. Is he speaking the truth right now or is he not? Hyunsoo has no idea, and by default he tends to lean towards just believing it - mostly since it's not like this sounds ridiculous. And it's not like he knows more about vampires than Yukyun does.
So the coffin story? Probably true, Hyunsoo figures. He's never seen a coffin around here, but god knows where he could store it away. Yukyun probably just prefers a bed because he's a lazy asshole who only wants the best. Coffins can't be very comfortable, after all, and they're so small and cramped and da.. rk...
The more Hyunsoo thinks about it, the more he dislikes the idea Yukyun is presenting here. It's not that he's claustrophobic or anything, but squeezing together in one of those? And a coffin on top of it, like being buried alive.. he's seen that happen in a (non-vampire) movie too once and it looked terrifying. For a guy who blindly jumped into devoting his life to a vampire king, Hyunsoo isn't looking to die. Especially not in that sort of way, thanks.
He involuntarily squirms a little on top of the other. Not because he dislikes this position (it's nice, but you're not going to get that out of him directly), but at the thought. Hyunsoo can't help but show practically every single thing that's going through his mind, after all, and his discomfort at the idea clearly shows. ]
Gross.. [ It's hard to tell if he's even protesting against their current position (which would be fake) or against the coffin idea (which would be very real). He doesn't bother to specify, but he sure is making a Face. More like a pout. ] There's no way I'd--
[ "do that," he wants to say, but Yukyun did say he'd only get to sleep this close to him if he could make him fall asleep again.. and a combination of his antsiness of what is Out There combined with his heart oddly racing when he's in the other's arms like this (a stupid and weird feeling, nothing more) drives him to the thought that he'd do anything to stay this close to him, no matter how cold Yukyun's body is against his own.
.. even if the very thought itself is still terrifying. But of course that's just Hyunsoo working himself up over absolutely nothing thanks to how gullible he is. ]
I mean.. t-- there's no way that's the only way for you to get back to sleep, right?
[There's no way Yukyun would sleep in a coffin, unless he didn't actually have a choice in the matter. But if he had to, he'd make damn well sure it'd be the most comfortable coffin known to man. A giant one for starters. Plush walls. Pillows and blankets. Maybe install a heater inside. And his name engraved in gold lettering on the top, just so everyone knows "that's his, keep away".
But thank god, he doesn't need a coffin, so he's not about to waste his time making that monstrosity. The universe really dodged a bullet with that.
...That's not to say he MIGHT...not have a shitty one stashed away somewhere though. For this explicit purpose, once again- freaking out Hyunsoo.
It looks awful, too. Like it was made in some seedy high school woodshop by a kid who didn't know what he was doing. A little wooden box, basically, that'd be a hella cramped fit for two. You could probably get a splinter just by looking at it. There's no way Yukyun would even subject a dead guy to it, let alone himself...but sometimes, for stupid pranks, you need stupid props. So he keeps one tucked away, in one of the few closets he's told Hyunsoo not touch.
Not that he even needs it just yet, because Hyunsoo's still playing into it like a complete sucker. It's so endearing. How did Yukyun manage to get so lucky? You don't find boys like this everyday.]
Hmm...I don't know...you tell me. [He tilts his head, with a knowing smile. Like there's an obvious answer other than...him just putting his head back down against the pillow and closing his eyes. Because that's really all it'd take.]
Aren't you supposed to be the one figuring it out? I can't just sit here and give you all the answers. Trying to cheat off the teacher is asking for trouble.
[So is choosing a teacher who's a complete troll, and doesn't even do anything to prepare you for the test ahead of time. Or gives you false information. To be fair though, he at least draws the line at stupid shit, an doesn't pull the same stunts when it's time to get serious.
Yukyun doesn't seem too bothered by the "gross" comment either. If Hyunsoo didn't want to be this close to him, he'd still be in his own bed...So he shifts himself to get a little more comfortable- putting one hand back underneath his own head.]
[ There has to be an obvious answer. With the way Yukyun is looking at him, there has to be an obvious answer, right? Hyunsoo even lifts himself up a little so he can look properly at the other's face, as if he might find the answer in his eyes or something.. but there's not even the vaguest hint of anything there.
He's only ever gotten information about vampires from the other in single statements at best, so it's hard to go back through his memory and try to find something that would relate to this situation. Did he ever tell him what puts vampires to sleep? Considering it's Yukyun of all people, he easily could just not have told him and ask him like this now just to bother him.. but it could also be that he did talk about it and Hyunsoo just missed it. And he absolutely doesn't want to admit it if that is the case.
But it leaves him in a difficult situation, since he does have to do something right now. And quickly, apparently.
So all Hyunsoo can think of is what always puts him to sleep.. He didn't have much of a problem sleeping for the longest time before he got pulled along in Yukyun's business, but he does remember climbing into his parents' bed when he was little and had had a nightmare, curling up next to his mother. It never were her words that lulled him back to sleep, it was always just the comfort of having someone right there with you, nice and warm and not going away..
He doubts Yukyun is sappy enough (n-not that he himself is sappy or anything though, okay?!) to care much for that last part of it, but he's bound to like warmth, at least. ]
Then..
[ His jaw is set for a moment in what looks like frustration, but is definitely just insecurity and worry about the "answer" he's giving here, before he lowers himself back onto Yukyun, sprawling out a little better on top of him and turning his head to the side so his cheek is against the middle of the other's torso. ]
.. it's warm like this, right? That'll help you sleep. [ There's a pouty hint in it that definitely doesn't just come from the way his face is smushed. ] You won't have that if you kick me out.
[ Yukyun is a vampire, after all, and has been for god knows how long.. his body isn't a heat source the way Hyunsoo's is. ]
[Wow, Hyunsoo sure is taking this whole thing seriously. As much as he loves this, sometimes it feels like Yukyun's teasing attempts gets wasted...he's not actually going to switch into automatic cranky mode if Hyunsoo can't think of anything in the next few seconds. But it wouldn't be too weird for him to play along with that, would it? He can pull of fake-cranky without breaking a sweat.
Not that it matters, since Hyunsoo manages to come up with something after all (he wasn't gonna hold his breath on it). And to be honest, it's nice. Yukyun never really thought of himself as a cuddly sort of guy...he doesn't hate it, but he doesn't really care either? But the warmth is comfortable...especially pressed right up against him like that. His own personal space heater...he could get used to it.
If he's being honest (he won't be), he doesn't usually sleep on his back...so this'll be different. And he's still not too used to sleeping so close to someone else. Some guys just like their space while they sleep, right? But he likes this- Hyunsoo using his whole body as a way to comfort him.
He lets himself sink down onto the bed and rest both of his arms around the other. It really has been a long time since he's felt warm while he's been in a bed.]
Ooooh. I see now...So this is your answer.
[The tone of his voice makes it seem like he's still appraising the choice...like he hasn't quite decided what he thinks of it yet. To be fair, he hadn't thought much of what Hyunsoo might actually do...since he doesn't need anything special to fall asleep anyway. He wasn't worried.
After a few seconds, Yukyun reaches over and takes a strand of Hyunsoo's hair in his fingertips- twisting it around gently.]
You want to go the full lap-dog route, huh? Well...I think I can accept this. It's comfortable for me, so I can't complain.
[ It feels weird. The moment the other's arms move around him, Hyunsoo can feel his heart beating straight out of his chest.. but it's just because he's nervous about this, he's sure. He just doesn't want to be kicked out and forced to spend the night in another room where he's just going to worry the whole time if one of the vampires around here won't come and attack him while he's asleep.. That's all. It must be the only reason why he's feeling like this, no way it could be anything else, right?
Even so, the thought of Yukyun probably being able to feel it in their current positions manages to embarrass him all the same. The defensive attitude about it is already at the tip of his tongue, ready to start up the moment Yukyun would even say a word about it.
But at least.. he's not saying anything about it. Yet, anyway. He hasn't known the other for that long yet, but long enough to already know he doesn't let these things slide most of the time without making fun of someone over it.
And at least he's approving of it. So that's one less worry, but--
.. then why does his heart still feel like it's racing? Ugh, this is so annoying! It's like it's only getting worse the moment the other grabs a hold of his hair, and for a moment Hyunsoo wishes he could just disappear on the spot out of sheer embarrassment. ]
What does it have to do with being a lapdog.. [ The words are half-muffled against the other's body, but they still manage to sound a little pouty all the same. Being the lapdog of a really powerful vampire actually doesn't sound all that bad to him, but.. putting it like that is more embarrassing than anything else. He'd be the laughing stock of just about any place. ]
I'm just doing what you're saying.
[ Which is.. the very definition of a lapdog, Hyunsoo... ]
[Yukyun could swear up and down that no one would attack Hyunsoo as long as he's under this roof, but it probably wouldn't make much of a difference to him. This is the type of guy who seemed nervous just because he was on his own in a back alley, after all...and he is a human in a house full of vampires. He can cut the boy some slack, for that much. Although Yukyun himself doesn't ever remember feeling very panicky over the idea when he was still human.
But then again, comparing the two of them is like comparing...(he doesn't want to say "apples and oranges" because that's just too cliche, but he can't think of anything better). So if one of them has to be the guy who's not gonna fuss, Yukyun is definitely gonna be that one.
And really, there's no safer room in the whole building than this one in particular. Seeing that he's in it.
Not that Hyunsoo seems like he feels very safe here either, considering his heart's going a mile a minute. (He knows that's not the real reason it's going so fast...but it'd be a good enough reason to use for some dumb comment, if there's room to make one. Put a pin in it for now).
The irony of that statement makes him laugh though. He moves a hand to ruffle Hyunsoo's hair in a way that somehow makes it obvious he's still teasing him. To be fair, Yukyun had never actually asked for the guy to be his lapdog, he'd always said "right hand man". But considering the way this whole night is going, it seems like the odds are pointing in favor of a doghouse being built outside.]
Good dogs who do what their told are the ones who get to sleep on the bed. Isn't that true?
[ The more the odds are starting to look in favor of him being able to stay here in bed for the night, the more Hyunsoo feels a little at ease.. sure, the embarrassing way Yukyun puts things is still riling him up, but at least he's not worried anymore that he could be kicked out any moment now. The other seems just fine with the two of them staying like this, which is.. actually a little surprising. Sure, Yukyun has always been a lot more relaxed than what Hyunsoo would imagine a vampire king to be like, but to allow him of all people to climb into his bed, to lie on top of him like this.. He hasn't seen any of the vampires around the place trying to go to Yukyun's room to do the same.
And yet here he is. Hyunsoo isn't anything special - it's not even him putting himself down, he just knows he's not. He never finished school, he just wandered around on the streets aimlessly, he doesn't have any particular skills with anything.. and yet Yukyun took him in like this, is training him to make him his right hand man, is letting him sleep on top of him and somehow - despite how infuriating Yukyun can be - manages to make it feel like the most comforting thing in the world.
He can't think about any of it for too long. It feels like he's dying. Even that hair ruffle is enough for him to want to just melt away here.. it's too much. It's not even that he even remotely likes the guy, it's just..
.. yeah, that's totally what it is. A random human scrappy picked off the streets developing a huge dumb puppy crush on an annoying vampire king.
He wants to completely ban any thoughts about that out of his mind instantly, so of course he's quick to try and cover it up, despite not saying anything about it out loud. ]
I-isn't it obvious why I'm listening to you and doing what you say then? I don't want to sleep out there. [ At least he can admit that much - he's pretty sure it's only natural to be scared of vampires. They can kill you just like that, it's natural! It's like people liking snakes-- who likes snakes?!
He even wiggles a little bit in protest.. but only a little bit, he doesn't want to make Yukyun lie there more uncomfortable and risk being thrown out after all. ]
[It's good progress that Hyunsoo's relaxing, really.
But it just won't do if he's walking around the compound in a constant state of fear...there needs to be at least some level of comfort, especially if Yukyun's going to be using him in the future. Honestly, a lot of it will just take time...that, and the final change that'll make him a vampire will be the best solution.
If he can give a little extra push to that comfort though? By letting Hyunsoo stay here? And saying a few words? Then why not.]
They won't.
[It's not said in a complete joking manner, but it doesn't sound too serious either. More like a "matter of fact" statement. Because it is. Yukyun still doubts it'll erase Hyunsoo's fears completely, but at least it'll be a concrete thought for him to hold onto.]
No one in this building will. To lay a hand on something that's mine, is to go against me.
[And all the vampires who live with him here, directly in his home, are the ones that he does put his trust in.
It's hard to say that it extends completely to the entire compound...there are a lot of people living here, after all. But overall, anyone who wanted to take a chance against him would be royally screwing themselves over. And it's not as if Yukyun's shy about enforcing the few rules he actually cares about...or that Hyunsoo is his. There wouldn't be any loop holes for "accidents" if someone went after him.
Yukyun idly takes another loose strand of Hyunsoo's hair, and gently tugs on it with his fingers. As if to accentuate the point- he can do this whenever he wants.]
[ The statement sets in a feeling that Yukyun has given him often since they first met - oddly enough, considering just what and who Yukyun is, and considering how often he sets off Hyunsoo's emotions enough to get him all worked up. But the feeling that's even stronger than that, even if Hyunsoo expresses it a little less verbally, is relief. Even if he's only met the other a little while ago, his whole life has been turned upside down since. All those years of trying to find direction for his life, all his worries about never being able to find it and the thought that he'd just keep on going like that, not particularly interested in living but not wanting to die either.. that all vanished. It isn't like Yukyun just dragged him into all this, it's too that Hyunsoo was very, very willing.
Staying with Yukyun like this gives him purpose. He doesn't have to think about what he wants to do with his life if Yukyun decides everything for him, and to Hyunsoo that idea is more comforting than anything in the world. Yukyun takes care of everything for him when it comes to his life, including protecting him from things he didn't even know existed all around him until now.
Maybe it's why he gets an extra strong kick out of those words. Out of the words that he's Yukyun's, sure, but that's still a growing feeling.. more than that, the thought that the vampire king of the second biggest city in the country would go out of his way to protect him if someone would lay a hand on him..
It makes his heart pound rapidly for a different reason now, and he doesn't even protest against the way Yukyun lightly tugs on his hair. (He likes it, anyway, even if he'd never admit that.)
There's a lot of things Hyunsoo still doesn't know yet though. About vampires, the vampire world's structure, about Yukyun himself.. and he's at least curious enough to ask about those. Especially-- ]
Have you ever had to put someone in their place before..?
[ Especially.. because it's almost hard to imagine. Not impossible, sure, because even Hyunsoo can notice how Yukyun would come across as threatening to some people, despite him having lost the ability to see the other as that already. But Yukyun is usually so goofy around him. Even when he's being "serious", there's still such a casual and light air to them that it's hard to imagine Yukyun as a real vampire king.. But then again, he can't have gotten to his position by doing nothing. Hyunsoo knows.
And the thought of someone who's capable of that being the one in charge of him.. well, Hyunsoo likes the idea of it a lot. It's maybe why he simmers down a little as he mumbles the words against where his head is resting on Yukyun's chest. ]
[Honestly, a lot of what Yukyun's told Hyunsoo still feels very "matter of fact" to him, in some ways. Maybe it's not like you can count on just any person in charge to go to such an extreme when they're protecting someone...but these aren't humans. And despite the fact that they all used to be human, sometimes it can be easy to forget that they're not...especially considering there're still plenty of similarities.
With Yukyun, he's found things to be more...on the territorial side, at least with his own experience. Not with every vampire, no. But for the most part...if someone tries to screw you over, it's going to end in a fight. If someone tries to take something from you, it's going to end in a fight.
Why else would their society revolve around cities controlled by the strongest vampires in the area?
And that doesn't even mean he's the type to think he can solve all of his problems by beating the shit out of people, but he's not naive enough to think that factor wouldn't ever come into play. Not in a world like this. And since he is the one at the top, he has to be the one to keep it that way. To keep the city in order (more or less), and to keep other people living there in order too.
So Hyunsoo's comment- tying into all of that- makes him snort a little. He's surprised the other guy even has to ask it. Maybe he just wants to hear more of the details, huh?]
Of course.
[He moves his hands back- stretching one of his arms up a little. So much for a full 8 hours of sleep...he guesses he'll be staying up at least a little while longer.]
You know how old I am? You really think I'd be able to go that long without taking someone down a few pegs?
[ Once again, it's not too difficult to read what Hyunsoo is thinking without him having to say a word of it out loud. Yukyun is right - it's not really just confusion, there's a big part of angling for the details in it. Maybe it's not even something Hyunsoo consciously realises he's doing, but there's just a part of him that feels oddly thrilled at thinking of how strong Yukyun is. It's something he's never seen, after all, and while it also leaves him not too intimidated of the other guy, at the same time it makes him curious just what it would like to see all that authority and strength being turned on someone that isn't him.
Especially if he can imagine it'd be Yukyun protecting him from a vampire who'd want to attack Hyunsoo.. even the subconscious thought of it makes Hyunsoo's heart race even further. He can't help it - he has a thing for people who know how to lead, after all, since it's what he himself craves so badly all the time. ]
You don't look that much older than me. [ Hyunsoo pouts a little against Yukyun's chest as he says it.. Yukyun looks.. what, maybe in the middle of his twenties? A little later? Hyunsoo might still be at the end of his teenage years, but it doesn't mean the gap between the two of them is that big. ] I know that's not how old you really are, but how do you expect me to guess?
[ How long do vampires even live? Forever? Or do even they just shrivel up at some point? How old would you have to be to be considered a powerful vampire? It's just more questions that Yukyun has never really talked about with him before, despite dragging him into this world of vampires to begin with.
There's something about this situation that Hyunsoo doesn't realise though. His mind is off so far into this conversation and all the questions he still has about vampires and the way they live that he doesn't even realise he's keeping Yukyun up rather than letting him sleep. And that means he sure also doesn't realise that Yukyun is willing to stay up a little and talk to him like this.. a thought that would no doubt kill Hyunsoo with tsun and dokis at the very same time the moment he'd realise it.
For now he doesn't though, instead just letting his pout go with a small sigh as he leans his head a little more comfortably against the other. ]
[Yukyun wasn't being specific when he asked Hyunsoo if he knew how old he was. It's just...one of those things that people say, when you're way beyond old enough to get the senior citizen discount. And obviously Hyunsoo must at least realize that he's a hell of a lot older than he looks. But to be honest, if the boy ever asked his real age, he'd probably act offended. Just because it's a good enough excuse to. And so he doesn't have to give an answer...he's way too lazy to keep track of that many birthdays.
Hyunsoo's comment reminds him that he definitely wants to keep him at a physical age that's either close to his own or still younger. Since they're going to be living who knows how long together, that's definitely something he wants to pick out for himself...and while he enjoys keeping Hyunsoo as a human for now, he knows that means it won't last long.
Either way- Yukyun's definitely old to have plenty of fighting experience under his belt. It's almost funny to think that Hyunsoo hasn't really seen even a fraction of his real strength in the time they've known each other. But Yukyun just isn't the type to go flaunting his power around if there's not a need to. Not because he wouldn't ever do it, he's just...not a fan of exerting the effort if it's mostly pointless.
Really though, given his line of work...it'll only be a matter of time.]
I know what you're up to.
[He points an accusing finger at him that doesn't actually have any real threat behind it.]
You're trying to get me to throw my weight around, huh. Well...you do go after a man in charge, don't?
[But it's not happening now. He might be willing to stay up and chat with Hyunsoo, but he's not leaving his bed unless it's either absolutely necessary, or absolutely worth it for a good trolling experience.]
[ At least this time it's not a very loud protest. Somehow now he's sure that he's able to stay here in Yukyun's bed rather than lying there by himself in the other room and fearing god knows how many vampires could come in for all he knows.. it's put him a lot more at ease. Enough to actually keep leaning against the other like this and instead of yelling just mumbling protests against him.
This isn't anything to get too worked up about, anyway.. By Hyunsoo standards. Which means he's still getting worked up about it anyway, but at least it's not too huge of a fit. It's just the embarrassment from the implication that he'd want to see something like that to begin with. That he'd be into it.
(Because he would be really into that, and the way his insides flutter at the thought tells him that, but there's no way he's going to admit any part of that. Even to himself.)
So he's still just lying there, even though his muffled grumbling continues on. ]
If you had to do that, it'd mean there would be trouble. And it's not like I can do anything to defend myself in that situation.
[ So.. if Yukyun is really serious about keeping him around, he could protect him instead, right. That's totally what that means.
The thought of Yukyun going that far for him makes Hyunsoo's heart race in his chest once more - he doesn't even have a chance to stop it, really. It's unstoppable from the moment the idea crosses his mind. ]
Besides, you're probably the showoff type anyway.. [ And yet, for as much of a coward Hyunsoo is, he still doesn't seem to mind mouthing off a little bit against the strongest vampire around here. Mostly since - oddly enough - Yukyun makes him feel at ease rather than threatened. He draws out something more normal out of Hyunsoo than the aimlessly emotional void he felt before, at least. ]
[Well it's true enough that Yukyun doesn't actually want any trouble right now. In the middle of the day. When he's supposed to be asleep...and not thinking about anything important, like someone picking an actual fight. But when you watch over a whole city, sometimes you have to throw your weight around whether you actually feel like it or not.
As far as protecting Hyunsoo though? Of course he would. He can't just drag a human into a compound full of vampires and expect him to actually fend for himself. Well...not if he wants to keep the human alive, anyway. And since he obviously does want Hyunsoo with him, there's no doubt that he would tell the other to stick close to him. He wouldn't have picked Hyuunsoo as a right hand man if he didn't actually want him.
It's a shame that human bodies are so fragile though. There're still so many benefits for both of them to enjoy while Hyunsoo's still stuck like this. But it sure does amp up the potential risks, doesn't it?
Hyunsoo's last comment makes him laugh though. He shakes his head and does his best mock "disappointment" face.]
Hyunsoo, Hyunsoo, Hyunsoo...So much to learn. What's the use of being powerful if you can't be a show off with it? Now that'd just be a damn waste.
[He reaches over suddenly- taking both of Hyunsoo's hands and using his own to ball the other's into fists. Then pulls and pushes them back and forth- making mock "punching" gestures".]
Maybe you'll even get a taste for it too, once we've toughened you up a little.
[There is not even a trace of seriousness about that statement. Hyunsoo being a show off just for the sake of being a show off sounds like it'd be way too far off from ever even remotely happening. It's a weird mental image, to be honest. Does not compute.
But for now, he can still spout bullshit to keep on teasing his soft, squishy human.]
[ It's true that it's the weirdest mental image. Hyunsoo is such a weenie that it's pretty much the opposite of his personality - if anything he'd just be glad to be able to stand up for himself just a little bit if he were stronger than he is now, but he's not the type to gloat over it. He just doesn't have any sense of self importance, which means that stuff like bragging is completely beyond Hyunsoo.
Although.. well, he doesn't know about it just yet since he has no clue just how deeply he'll fall into everything about the vampire he's lying on top of right now. But it's true that there is one reason in the future he will like to show off - not for himself, but for Yukyun. To show him how strong he is, that he's the one that belongs at his side and no one else.
It's completely beyond him to think so at this point though. He's still human, for one, and he's only stayed at the other's place for a little while now. Even just the thought of himself as a vampire is still definitely odd.. even though he won't back out of it. He has no plans to. If Yukyun wants to turn him into a vampire eventually, then Hyunsoo will let him, no matter how much he might grumble about the other.
-- which is exactly what's about to happen, just in time. ]
H-hey, don't lump me in with you!
[ Although he'd still love to watch Yukyun show off, don't get him wrong. But consciously admitting that to both himself and the other? That's way beyond this little tsun boy's capabilities. This reaction is way easier, although the tsun isn't complete.. he doesn't try to get his now-fists out of the vampire's grasp. Not because he thinks he can't, but because he feels oddly okay with Yukyun slightly manhandling him like that.
(Stupid, stupid--)
Although with how little Yukyun has told him about vampires when it comes to real details, he can't help but wonder something, blinking at the other with curiosity he's unable to hide. ]
Although.. could I really get that strong too? [ Not as strong as Yukyun, he's not making any delusions here. He doesn't want to be as strong or stronger than him anyway. He just means as strong as some of the other vampires around here, since he's such a weenie that he can't really imagine himself with any sort of strength at all. ]
[For the amount of complete bullshit that Yukyun has spouted about what vampires are like, it wouldn't be a surprise if Hyunsoo had a completely different picture painted in his head by this point. He spouts off quotes and references from dumb vampire movies so often already anyway....honestly, some of the vampire movies are probably more accurate than his own rendition by now.
But there's not a whole lot Hyunsoo really needs to know right now, since he's staying a human for a while longer yet. Yukyun will tell him anything that's absolutely vital, but...the only thing that'll really benefit him is just knowing to keep the hell away from most vampires. It's not worth the risk to go waltzing up to anyone that might not actually live around here, and Hyunsoo's not familiar enough with them to have all the names and faces memorized. Honestly if anything, that might be what's best for him to keep track of for now.
At Hyunsoo's question though, the grin on his face widens.]
Of course. It'll practically be like an instant strength boost compared to how you are now.
[Well...maybe "instant" isn't the best word to use. Because there'll still be a whole lot of adjusting that Hyunsoo will have to do to get used to everything. But..then again, he will still be stronger right away. It's the honing of those abilities that really matters though.
No matter how Yukyun acts now, he'll be a good teacher when the time comes. There's no point in wasting some of the most vital moments when Hyunsoo's still newborn, after all. There's no way to know exactly how things will turn out, but that's exactly why he's going to play it safe. Even he can't predict exactly how vicious the human will end up turning once he's trying to prove his strength for Yukyun.
For now though, he's not going to worry about that. And he leans in closer, like he's about to tell Hyunsoo an important secret.]
Strong enough to punch through walls.
[This is said with just as much "seriousness". Even though it's probably sounding a lot more questionable.]
[ See, this is exactly the problem. It's not like Hyunsoo has been with Yukyun for a super long time now, but it's at least been enough to know the basics about the other.. mostly the fact that Yukyun just loves joking around all the time - the fact that he pretended to be something other than a vampire while approaching Hyunsoo tipped him off to that much. But since Yukyun pretty much always has this nonchalant air about him, it's hard to tell where the border between things he's joking about and things he's serious about lies. He hasn't seen the other have to get super serious for anything, which only makes it harder.
It makes the truth and the bullshit all blur together in his mind, and Hyunsoo's mental image about vampires is pretty skewed at this point. So much so that he can't even directly place what the vampire king is saying now in either category. It sounds a little ridiculous, like something out of a comic book, but on the other hand.. why couldn't vampires do that? They're supernatural, and it's not like Yukyun said anything ridiculous like punching planets, so maybe it's just true...
... And then there's the fact he totally did just sneak into the bed of a vampire king (which Yukyun still is, no matter how ridiculous he acts most of the time) and could still potentially end up facing some sort of punishment if he's being too rude and questioning him too much on things that end up not being jokes.
It's a delicate balance, but it's one that ends up definitely being tipped over by how much of a coward Hyunsoo is. The fact he doesn't really want to question Yukyun too much in these early phases of getting to live with the other makes him just assume it's true.
It's easily visible too. The moment he decides it must be true, Hyunsoo looks kind of amazed. He's probably imagining himself actually punching through walls and seeming.. well, cool for once. It's one of those moments where he looks even a little bit younger than his actual age, like he's getting excited to the point he can't even fully hide it on the outside, no matter how much he'd want to. ]
Then.. I'll have to do that stuff a lot once I'm a vampire too, right?
[ He's totally imagining himself as a cool superhero. Shut up. He thinks it's awesome and totally embarrassing at the same time, which is definitely why he won't bring it up in that context. No matter how much that question sounds oddly hopeful, and how his heart is racing a little again as he's lying there against Yukyun. ]

.. not like it's the only thing around that's annoying for no reason.
Obviously. Clearly. ]

I thought I taught you better than that.
no subject
no subject

no subject
Now fix the blankets already.
no subject
Life is hard. ]
no subject
[Said by someone who could put his head back on the pillow and fall asleep instantly.]
no subject
no subject
Because that's not happening anytime soon, and Yukyun wants to get all the enjoyment he can out of this for now.]
no subject
I mean.. t-- there's no way that's the only way for you to get back to sleep, right?
no subject
Don't keep me waiting too long. I'll get cranky.
no subject
no subject
It's comfortable for me, so I can't complain.
no subject
no subject
Isn't that true?
no subject
They'll kill me. Or at least see me as dessert.
no subject
As if to accentuate the point- he can do this whenever he wants.]
no subject
no subject
You really think I'd be able to go that long without taking someone down a few pegs?
no subject
I was just.. curious.
no subject
He might be willing to stay up and chat with Hyunsoo, but he's not leaving his bed unless it's either absolutely necessary, or absolutely worth it for a good trolling experience.]
no subject
no subject

Although.. well, he doesn't know about it just yet since he has no clue just how deeply he'll fall into everything about the vampire he's lying on top of right now.

Since I'd be your right hand man.
