[Honestly, a lot of what Yukyun's told Hyunsoo still feels very "matter of fact" to him, in some ways. Maybe it's not like you can count on just any person in charge to go to such an extreme when they're protecting someone...but these aren't humans. And despite the fact that they all used to be human, sometimes it can be easy to forget that they're not...especially considering there're still plenty of similarities.
With Yukyun, he's found things to be more...on the territorial side, at least with his own experience. Not with every vampire, no. But for the most part...if someone tries to screw you over, it's going to end in a fight. If someone tries to take something from you, it's going to end in a fight.
Why else would their society revolve around cities controlled by the strongest vampires in the area?
And that doesn't even mean he's the type to think he can solve all of his problems by beating the shit out of people, but he's not naive enough to think that factor wouldn't ever come into play. Not in a world like this. And since he is the one at the top, he has to be the one to keep it that way. To keep the city in order (more or less), and to keep other people living there in order too.
So Hyunsoo's comment- tying into all of that- makes him snort a little. He's surprised the other guy even has to ask it. Maybe he just wants to hear more of the details, huh?]
Of course.
[He moves his hands back- stretching one of his arms up a little. So much for a full 8 hours of sleep...he guesses he'll be staying up at least a little while longer.]
You know how old I am? You really think I'd be able to go that long without taking someone down a few pegs?
[ Once again, it's not too difficult to read what Hyunsoo is thinking without him having to say a word of it out loud. Yukyun is right - it's not really just confusion, there's a big part of angling for the details in it. Maybe it's not even something Hyunsoo consciously realises he's doing, but there's just a part of him that feels oddly thrilled at thinking of how strong Yukyun is. It's something he's never seen, after all, and while it also leaves him not too intimidated of the other guy, at the same time it makes him curious just what it would like to see all that authority and strength being turned on someone that isn't him.
Especially if he can imagine it'd be Yukyun protecting him from a vampire who'd want to attack Hyunsoo.. even the subconscious thought of it makes Hyunsoo's heart race even further. He can't help it - he has a thing for people who know how to lead, after all, since it's what he himself craves so badly all the time. ]
You don't look that much older than me. [ Hyunsoo pouts a little against Yukyun's chest as he says it.. Yukyun looks.. what, maybe in the middle of his twenties? A little later? Hyunsoo might still be at the end of his teenage years, but it doesn't mean the gap between the two of them is that big. ] I know that's not how old you really are, but how do you expect me to guess?
[ How long do vampires even live? Forever? Or do even they just shrivel up at some point? How old would you have to be to be considered a powerful vampire? It's just more questions that Yukyun has never really talked about with him before, despite dragging him into this world of vampires to begin with.
There's something about this situation that Hyunsoo doesn't realise though. His mind is off so far into this conversation and all the questions he still has about vampires and the way they live that he doesn't even realise he's keeping Yukyun up rather than letting him sleep. And that means he sure also doesn't realise that Yukyun is willing to stay up a little and talk to him like this.. a thought that would no doubt kill Hyunsoo with tsun and dokis at the very same time the moment he'd realise it.
For now he doesn't though, instead just letting his pout go with a small sigh as he leans his head a little more comfortably against the other. ]
[Yukyun wasn't being specific when he asked Hyunsoo if he knew how old he was. It's just...one of those things that people say, when you're way beyond old enough to get the senior citizen discount. And obviously Hyunsoo must at least realize that he's a hell of a lot older than he looks. But to be honest, if the boy ever asked his real age, he'd probably act offended. Just because it's a good enough excuse to. And so he doesn't have to give an answer...he's way too lazy to keep track of that many birthdays.
Hyunsoo's comment reminds him that he definitely wants to keep him at a physical age that's either close to his own or still younger. Since they're going to be living who knows how long together, that's definitely something he wants to pick out for himself...and while he enjoys keeping Hyunsoo as a human for now, he knows that means it won't last long.
Either way- Yukyun's definitely old to have plenty of fighting experience under his belt. It's almost funny to think that Hyunsoo hasn't really seen even a fraction of his real strength in the time they've known each other. But Yukyun just isn't the type to go flaunting his power around if there's not a need to. Not because he wouldn't ever do it, he's just...not a fan of exerting the effort if it's mostly pointless.
Really though, given his line of work...it'll only be a matter of time.]
I know what you're up to.
[He points an accusing finger at him that doesn't actually have any real threat behind it.]
You're trying to get me to throw my weight around, huh. Well...you do go after a man in charge, don't?
[But it's not happening now. He might be willing to stay up and chat with Hyunsoo, but he's not leaving his bed unless it's either absolutely necessary, or absolutely worth it for a good trolling experience.]
[ At least this time it's not a very loud protest. Somehow now he's sure that he's able to stay here in Yukyun's bed rather than lying there by himself in the other room and fearing god knows how many vampires could come in for all he knows.. it's put him a lot more at ease. Enough to actually keep leaning against the other like this and instead of yelling just mumbling protests against him.
This isn't anything to get too worked up about, anyway.. By Hyunsoo standards. Which means he's still getting worked up about it anyway, but at least it's not too huge of a fit. It's just the embarrassment from the implication that he'd want to see something like that to begin with. That he'd be into it.
(Because he would be really into that, and the way his insides flutter at the thought tells him that, but there's no way he's going to admit any part of that. Even to himself.)
So he's still just lying there, even though his muffled grumbling continues on. ]
If you had to do that, it'd mean there would be trouble. And it's not like I can do anything to defend myself in that situation.
[ So.. if Yukyun is really serious about keeping him around, he could protect him instead, right. That's totally what that means.
The thought of Yukyun going that far for him makes Hyunsoo's heart race in his chest once more - he doesn't even have a chance to stop it, really. It's unstoppable from the moment the idea crosses his mind. ]
Besides, you're probably the showoff type anyway.. [ And yet, for as much of a coward Hyunsoo is, he still doesn't seem to mind mouthing off a little bit against the strongest vampire around here. Mostly since - oddly enough - Yukyun makes him feel at ease rather than threatened. He draws out something more normal out of Hyunsoo than the aimlessly emotional void he felt before, at least. ]
[Well it's true enough that Yukyun doesn't actually want any trouble right now. In the middle of the day. When he's supposed to be asleep...and not thinking about anything important, like someone picking an actual fight. But when you watch over a whole city, sometimes you have to throw your weight around whether you actually feel like it or not.
As far as protecting Hyunsoo though? Of course he would. He can't just drag a human into a compound full of vampires and expect him to actually fend for himself. Well...not if he wants to keep the human alive, anyway. And since he obviously does want Hyunsoo with him, there's no doubt that he would tell the other to stick close to him. He wouldn't have picked Hyuunsoo as a right hand man if he didn't actually want him.
It's a shame that human bodies are so fragile though. There're still so many benefits for both of them to enjoy while Hyunsoo's still stuck like this. But it sure does amp up the potential risks, doesn't it?
Hyunsoo's last comment makes him laugh though. He shakes his head and does his best mock "disappointment" face.]
Hyunsoo, Hyunsoo, Hyunsoo...So much to learn. What's the use of being powerful if you can't be a show off with it? Now that'd just be a damn waste.
[He reaches over suddenly- taking both of Hyunsoo's hands and using his own to ball the other's into fists. Then pulls and pushes them back and forth- making mock "punching" gestures".]
Maybe you'll even get a taste for it too, once we've toughened you up a little.
[There is not even a trace of seriousness about that statement. Hyunsoo being a show off just for the sake of being a show off sounds like it'd be way too far off from ever even remotely happening. It's a weird mental image, to be honest. Does not compute.
But for now, he can still spout bullshit to keep on teasing his soft, squishy human.]
[ It's true that it's the weirdest mental image. Hyunsoo is such a weenie that it's pretty much the opposite of his personality - if anything he'd just be glad to be able to stand up for himself just a little bit if he were stronger than he is now, but he's not the type to gloat over it. He just doesn't have any sense of self importance, which means that stuff like bragging is completely beyond Hyunsoo.
Although.. well, he doesn't know about it just yet since he has no clue just how deeply he'll fall into everything about the vampire he's lying on top of right now. But it's true that there is one reason in the future he will like to show off - not for himself, but for Yukyun. To show him how strong he is, that he's the one that belongs at his side and no one else.
It's completely beyond him to think so at this point though. He's still human, for one, and he's only stayed at the other's place for a little while now. Even just the thought of himself as a vampire is still definitely odd.. even though he won't back out of it. He has no plans to. If Yukyun wants to turn him into a vampire eventually, then Hyunsoo will let him, no matter how much he might grumble about the other.
-- which is exactly what's about to happen, just in time. ]
H-hey, don't lump me in with you!
[ Although he'd still love to watch Yukyun show off, don't get him wrong. But consciously admitting that to both himself and the other? That's way beyond this little tsun boy's capabilities. This reaction is way easier, although the tsun isn't complete.. he doesn't try to get his now-fists out of the vampire's grasp. Not because he thinks he can't, but because he feels oddly okay with Yukyun slightly manhandling him like that.
(Stupid, stupid--)
Although with how little Yukyun has told him about vampires when it comes to real details, he can't help but wonder something, blinking at the other with curiosity he's unable to hide. ]
Although.. could I really get that strong too? [ Not as strong as Yukyun, he's not making any delusions here. He doesn't want to be as strong or stronger than him anyway. He just means as strong as some of the other vampires around here, since he's such a weenie that he can't really imagine himself with any sort of strength at all. ]
[For the amount of complete bullshit that Yukyun has spouted about what vampires are like, it wouldn't be a surprise if Hyunsoo had a completely different picture painted in his head by this point. He spouts off quotes and references from dumb vampire movies so often already anyway....honestly, some of the vampire movies are probably more accurate than his own rendition by now.
But there's not a whole lot Hyunsoo really needs to know right now, since he's staying a human for a while longer yet. Yukyun will tell him anything that's absolutely vital, but...the only thing that'll really benefit him is just knowing to keep the hell away from most vampires. It's not worth the risk to go waltzing up to anyone that might not actually live around here, and Hyunsoo's not familiar enough with them to have all the names and faces memorized. Honestly if anything, that might be what's best for him to keep track of for now.
At Hyunsoo's question though, the grin on his face widens.]
Of course. It'll practically be like an instant strength boost compared to how you are now.
[Well...maybe "instant" isn't the best word to use. Because there'll still be a whole lot of adjusting that Hyunsoo will have to do to get used to everything. But..then again, he will still be stronger right away. It's the honing of those abilities that really matters though.
No matter how Yukyun acts now, he'll be a good teacher when the time comes. There's no point in wasting some of the most vital moments when Hyunsoo's still newborn, after all. There's no way to know exactly how things will turn out, but that's exactly why he's going to play it safe. Even he can't predict exactly how vicious the human will end up turning once he's trying to prove his strength for Yukyun.
For now though, he's not going to worry about that. And he leans in closer, like he's about to tell Hyunsoo an important secret.]
Strong enough to punch through walls.
[This is said with just as much "seriousness". Even though it's probably sounding a lot more questionable.]
[ See, this is exactly the problem. It's not like Hyunsoo has been with Yukyun for a super long time now, but it's at least been enough to know the basics about the other.. mostly the fact that Yukyun just loves joking around all the time - the fact that he pretended to be something other than a vampire while approaching Hyunsoo tipped him off to that much. But since Yukyun pretty much always has this nonchalant air about him, it's hard to tell where the border between things he's joking about and things he's serious about lies. He hasn't seen the other have to get super serious for anything, which only makes it harder.
It makes the truth and the bullshit all blur together in his mind, and Hyunsoo's mental image about vampires is pretty skewed at this point. So much so that he can't even directly place what the vampire king is saying now in either category. It sounds a little ridiculous, like something out of a comic book, but on the other hand.. why couldn't vampires do that? They're supernatural, and it's not like Yukyun said anything ridiculous like punching planets, so maybe it's just true...
... And then there's the fact he totally did just sneak into the bed of a vampire king (which Yukyun still is, no matter how ridiculous he acts most of the time) and could still potentially end up facing some sort of punishment if he's being too rude and questioning him too much on things that end up not being jokes.
It's a delicate balance, but it's one that ends up definitely being tipped over by how much of a coward Hyunsoo is. The fact he doesn't really want to question Yukyun too much in these early phases of getting to live with the other makes him just assume it's true.
It's easily visible too. The moment he decides it must be true, Hyunsoo looks kind of amazed. He's probably imagining himself actually punching through walls and seeming.. well, cool for once. It's one of those moments where he looks even a little bit younger than his actual age, like he's getting excited to the point he can't even fully hide it on the outside, no matter how much he'd want to. ]
Then.. I'll have to do that stuff a lot once I'm a vampire too, right?
[ He's totally imagining himself as a cool superhero. Shut up. He thinks it's awesome and totally embarrassing at the same time, which is definitely why he won't bring it up in that context. No matter how much that question sounds oddly hopeful, and how his heart is racing a little again as he's lying there against Yukyun. ]
