[The rain hasn't come as a complete surprise. It was overcast, after all. He'd figured when they left on patrol that it would probably start to come down around the time they finished, or perhaps even a bit before, if anything held them up a bit.

The surprise, rather, is in the intensity of the downpour. He'd expected a light drizzle, maybe enough to leave them ducking back into the compound slightly damp if they weren't quick - not a violent downpour, not in the middle of their rounds, soaking them straight through to the skin while they're still halfway across town.

There's no way they're making it back in this, that's for certain.]
