[ Suah has never been the type to think too deeply about things. If her being completely loud and impulsive and a bulldozer of a human being wasn't enough of an indication of that by itself, really. Why would she have a reason to stop and really think anyway when there was nothing really weighty enough to require that level of thought in her life in the first place?
... Okay, maybe there's some stuff. But even that kind of stuff has some very simple solutions to Suah, even if they might not be complete solutions. There's not much she can do about Kitae's situation as a whole - even though she does genuinely want to, in her eyes Kitae deserves much, much better than that - but she can offer enough temporary solutions. Even if it's just sometimes paying for both their amounts of food when they both go out to eat since she knows Kitae has to scrape his own money together through part time jobs, or even if it's an occasion like today where Kitae's stepdad seems in an even worse mood than usually. Kitae texted her to come hang out somewhere so he wouldn't have to be back there, but aren't there much easier and better solutions to this problem?
So Suah just texted him back right away to get over to her place instead. She knows her parents won't mind - especially not considering Kitae has a pretty spotless reputation with most of the outside world. And it's not like Suah herself cares at all about having a sleepover with a boy when she already clings to Kitae like a koala and covers his face in kisses on a near daily basis. It's hard to really care about the whole idea of romance or sexual stuff between guys and girls when you have zero interest in them and just want to shower your friend with the affection he deserves but lacks.
She can't find an extra matress to drag out this quickly for the other to sleep on, but Suah figures they can just both sleep on her bed. It's easily big enough for two - and once again, no shame. Nothing holding her back there.
After that she quickly starts feeling impatient though. It's just the way she is - the downside to seemingly having ten people's worth of energy. She swears to god, if Kitae somehow had to go back to his place and got stuck in that old man's fit, she's going to go over there and-- well, she doesn't know!! Do something!!
But thankfully there's no such thing going on, and instead she quickly bounces over to the door when she hears the doorbell ring, opening it with a wide smile on her face. ]
[ That's one of the best things about Suah, she really doesn't worry that much about tough issues. Kitae's life has been one tangled mess after another, and most of it isn't even his fault. His father has hated him from the day he was born, because he isn't really his father. He might be legally considered his dad, and as far as the government knows he's biologically his dad's kid, but a little bit of blood word would dispel that in an instant.
Even if he was his biological father, however, Kitae doubts his situation would be much better. His "dad" might not scream as much at him, and might be slightly less likely to throw empty liquor bottles at him, but Kitae doesn't doubt that he'd have to deal with some of it still. The man is a useless drunk, and Kitae doesn't doubt for a second that he'd still get called a useless fag, and told to fuck off out of his sight the minute he walked in the door.
Which was exactly what happened when Kitae came home tonight, and why he was trudging his way to Suah's door now with fried chicken in hand. He never wanted to deal with a drunk Hoseong, and he'd find a sauna to sleep in for the night if Suah hadn't demanded he come over right away.
That was another thing he appreciated about her too. Even if so many people at school criticized her for her loud, brash behavior, Kitae appreciated how aggressively loving she was. She probably gave his reputation a few hits here and there, but despite his very careful reputation management he wouldn't trade her for even the best social standings. When you live in a house with a man that would as soon hit you as pat you on the back, and a mother that shies away from physical contact, having someone who wraps herself around you is nice.
He doesn't feel anything remotely romantic, and certainly nothing sexual for Suah. Whether he wants to use the term for himself Kitae is as gay as the day is long, but there's something comfortable about the contact he and Suah have. It feels warm, and comforting, and sometimes a little overbearing, but there's no doubt when after a long night of an overly excitable Suah screeching about her favorite topics, when they lay down next to each other and she curls up against him he'll feel more at home than he ever does in his own lonely house.
So when he rings the doorbell and she greets him almost instantly with a wide smile and an excited yell he can't help himself, the poise slips for a moment and he smiles himself. A real, genuine smile that only a couple people in this world ever get to be graced by.
Before she can tackle him and knock him on his ass though he's shoving the box of fried chicken towards her. ]
I got two types for you, so don't complain I got the wrong one.
[ Not really the "thank you" he should be handing out to someone that just offered him a place to say, but it's not Kitae if he's not being a little bit rude. ]
[ It doesn't even matter if Kitae is a little rude about that statement. For one, it's not like Suah isn't used to it. There's only so long you can know Kitae, especially the way she does, before you realise it's just part of him. Besides, in the long run it doesn't mean much. It's not like Kitae really dislikes her.. if he did, he just wouldn't hang out with her like this to begin with. She knows him well enough to know that. And if it was ever really needed, he'd help her out since he cares about her.
If that's the case, then what do small things like these even matter, huh? Especially to a girl who's as brash as Suah is and who's likely to insult people without even really meaning to through how loud and direct she is. Don't dish out - even half-accidentally - what you can't take, after all.
It's why the slight rudeness in the statement seems to fly completely past her. Instead she just grabs the box from him.. and then goes in for a half-tackle hug anyway. At least it's not at full force since she is holding onto the chicken so it won't be knocking anyone off their feet right now, but it's still very much a Suah hug - much more intense than any gesture like that ought to be, but with enough love in it all the same.
Not like it isn't nice to hug Kitae anyway. Look at that face! He's like a soft and cute animal on the outside, and even though some people might claim otherwise about the inside, Suah thinks Kitae is a cute and soft animal anyway, it's just that that side of him doesn't peek out very often. But when there's a glimpse of that smile he doesn't seem to give people outside of their very tiny friends circle or when he actually does seem affected or hurt by his shitty circumstances.. well, those parts of him are incredibly endearing, and it makes Suah want to mother bear hug him into oblivion. Even if she's very small for a mother bear... details, details. ]
My Kitae, what would I do without you..!
[ She squeals and laughs before letting go of him, gladly covering up this whole deal as if it's not her letting her stay because she wants to help him out by making it seem like he's the one coming over to help her out with chicken. It's the half truth anyway, and that way it might be a little less awkward for Kitae.
(Not for Suah though - nothing seems to ever be awkward for that bulldozer of a girl.)
With how wildly she's handling the box, one might assume it'd fall at any moment.. yet she somehow manages to keep it from falling anyway. She'd call it talent, although it's probably mixed in with a good portion of sheer luck. Even as she swings around to walk back into the house and gestures for the guy to follow her and the box dangerously sways for a moment along with her. ]
Hurry up, come on in..! We're sharing the bed tonight, so don't stick your cold feet against me or you'll regret it!
[ Even though when it comes to Kitae, it probably just means "intense tickling" in Suah terms. ]
[ Suah is probably the only person in the world who would look at Kitae and think he's a soft and cute animal. Even the people who have bought the fake persona that Kitae has carefully crafted tend to think of him as more of a hard working, intelligent kid than anything else. Sure, Kitae has made himself seem harmless enough, but less through helplessness and more through good natured helpfulness.
That's bullshit too though. Kitae may be good to his friends, but he's not a good person overall. He's definitely not a cute and soft animal, and while he might need protection from some aspects of his life, there are definitely people that could use protection from him.
Suah, of course, is not one of them. As she launches herself at him Kitae opens up his arms so he can loosely wrap them around her when she sticks her landing and plasters herself to him for a moment. He's used to hugs like this, and while he might be perturbed by anyone else trying to hug him with this much enthusiasm he's learned to accept it graciously when it comes from her.
He also doesn't seem fazed by her sudden spin away from him either. It's Suah, so of course she's energetic and bouncing all over the place. That's just how Suah is and has always been. He also doesn't really need the invitation to come into the house, because it's always been so implicit he'll do it even if she didn't say a word. Kitae even politely closes the door behind himself so that Suah doesn't have to bother, kicking off his shoes by the door, before following her further into the house. ]
Not as much as you'll regret telling me that.
[ There's a teasing tone in his voice that suggests he's just saying it for fun, but he is absolutely going to put cold feet on her at least once tonight.
[ It all works out in the end. Suah really doesn't need anyone who's constantly nice to her. No matter the fact that she's relatively kind of small, even for a girl, she's definitely not very fragile in any way. She's definitely nearly broken someone else's arm before while doing sports, for one, and Kitae putting his cold feet on her certainly isn't anything that's going to ruin her day. If anything, his playful threat only makes her laugh, the sound echoing down the hallway.
Besides, Suah definitely was already going to put her cold feet on him at least once tonight too - and she's not really enough of a hypocrite to blame Kitae for wanting to do the same. This way it's almost more fun. Like a competition of who can sneak up to the other with cold feet the best. Hilarious.
The house she lives in with her family isn't ridiculously big or anything, but it's still a little bigger than the average, and so it takes a few moments to wander down the hall - lined with Suah's various trophies and medals which her mother is more than a little eager to display to any guest - before they reach her room. She doesn't even have to tell her parents that Kitae is here, not like they're going to mind. If there's anything the other guy is good at, it's leaving a good impression on other people. Even moreso than Suah, despite the fact that Suah might actually be a slightly better person. Slightly.
In her room she unceremoniously drops down on the carpet with the box, opening it to peer inside at the food, which immediately has her near drooling at the sight. Suah can't exactly be called a very graceful girl, sitting there on the ground and almost drooling over chicken, but she would counter that she's at least trying to keep her bed from getting covered with fat chicken fingers. That's totally an effort right there.
She's patting the spot next to her to tell Kitae to come and sit down, but she's definitely not waiting for him to start eating either - she's just too quick. Before anyone knows it, there's already half of a piece of chicken straight in her mouth. ]
[ Here she is, ladies and gentlemen, the girl that Insik idolizes enough to still like her despite the company she keeps. If only he could see her now...!
Actually, if he saw her as she really is, and decided that he didn't care for her anymore? That would tick Kitae off immensely. Suah is perfect the way she is, and dainty girls are overrated and often dull. Suah's lack of refinement, mischievousness, mile long competitive streak, and all around brash nature was what made her as amazing as she was, and Kitae can't help but let out a breathy laugh through his nose as she crams her mouth full of chicken.
Definitely best this way.
Kitae drops down onto the floor next to her with little grace himself. There's a chance that some people might have a misperception of Suah's personality, but a good number of people definitely have the wrong idea about Kitae's personality; the teachers at school, Suah's parents, Kitae's various bosses... honestly, any adult in Kitae's life besides his own mom and dad are way off about what he's really like.
The real Kitae is a lot nastier most of the time, but he still has his soft moments. Like now, where he gently tugs a lock of Suah's hair, laughing quietly again. ]
Hey. Calm down, or you're going to choke. What are you? A dog?
[ Said with her mouth still stuffed full of chicken, of course. Do you really think Suah is going to wait for something as insignificant as her swallowing the food before speaking up? No way, she's impulsive enough that when she wants to speak, she has to speak right at that exact moment, regardless of circumstances. Or manners, in this case. But even if Suah did care about having manners, she wouldn't bother going through the effort of looking polite in front of Kitae - why would she? They're best friends, and best friends don't need to hide anything from each other, no matter how gross said thing is.
Suah seems very happy though at the moment. Even her rebuttal doesn't sound annoyed or overly defensive or anything, more just like her answering him. It's easy to read off her face just how much she's enjoying the chicken, and she wiggles her feet a little in excitement before moving to lean against Kitae a little when he tugs on her hair.
It's only then that she finally swallows the mouthful of chicken, letting out a content sigh. ]
It's so good...
[ And although Suah might be thoughtless - or more just impulsive to a point that it's thoughtless - around other people and just keep eating until the box is entirely empty, she's a little more considerate with Kitae. If not just for the fact that she's always thinking about her bestie's wellbeing, really. So even though she's fishing a next piece out of the box already, she's instead holding it up to Kitae's mouth rather than eating it instantly. ]
Here, have some too! You'll understand once you taste it!
[ One of Suah's best charm points is her lack of proper behavior despite her family's wealth. They make good foils for each other in that way, Kitae with his overly proper behavior while being dirt poor, and Suah not giving two shits about manners despite having all the money in the world. He really doesn't look even a little bit bothered, despite giving her a hard time about how she's woofing it down.
It's funny too, because this is chicken they've eaten hundreds of times before, but Suah still acts like it's the most incredible thing she's ever eaten in her life. The owner of the store should really consider hiring her to advertise for them. Sure, most people might not want to see a cute girl eat quite so messily, but the genuineness of her enjoyment would probably get through to some new potential customers, right?
He snorts as she holds the chicken out to him though. He doesn't really need converting. ]
I've tasted it before.
[ Still, he leans forward and takes a bite of the chicken she's holding, without taking it out of her hand first. ]
[ She doesn't even bat an eyelash at Kitae eating it straight out of her hand like this. It's pretty normal for the two of them, after all. Instead she just looks delighted that he's had some too, despite the fact that she definitely knows he's had it before - not like this is their first time sharing chicken. ]
Well, I'm not hearing you sing its praises yet!
[ It's obviously said in a joking manner though. Suah is probably aware to at least some degree that she is - as a person - very much over the top even about the smallest of things. But right now she feels happy and giddy to have Kitae here with her tonight, both because she just likes his company and so she can rest easy knowing he's here and not back in his own shitty home.
Which is why she drops the chicken - with Kitae's bite out of it - back in the box for a moment to instead throw both of her arms around the guy and cling to him. Even the clinging is kind of over the top, like the way a little kid might cling to their teddy bear or something similar to that. ]
But I'll allow it since you brought me chicke~n! [ She stretches out the last word, her feet kicking up and down against the floor a little. Suah is getting more than halfway to looking like a puppy wagging its tail happily. ] How could I ever need another guy when I have you, huh?
[ Being over the top about everything is a large part of Suah's charm. Most people are too toned down in life, and even Kitae curbs a lot of his thoughts and feelings throughout the day in order to put on this bland, good boy image. He needs to in order to maintain a certain imagine, and the worst part is that he'll have to do that for the rest of his life, so he needs people like Suah around him to balance him out.
An exuberance for life, even if it's about eating fried chicken, is important. It reminds other people to actually stop and enjoy the simple things every now and then.
It's hard to keep the smile off of his face when Suah tosses her arms around him, but he does his best to look as scowly and hard to approach as usual when he's not putting on the fake charm. He's not doing a good job of it though, and the corners of his lips turn up just slightly. ]
Hey! Don't get chicken grease on my clothing!
[ Doesn't mean he can't still be very Kitae with his words, however.
He leans into her embrace though, not fighting the hold she's got on him at all. ]
And what do you mean? You'll meet another guy eventually you like, and then as your first boy I get to interrogate him to make sure he's good enough for you.
