But right now she feels happy and giddy to have Kitae here with her tonight, both because she just likes his company and so she can rest easy knowing he's here and not back in his own shitty home.

Which is why she drops the chicken - with Kitae's bite out of it - back in the box for a moment to instead throw both of her arms around the guy and cling to him. Even the clinging is kind of over the top, like the way a little kid might cling to their teddy bear or something similar to that. ]
