As if it's just normal for her to actually give him the time of day, to be willing to listen to his worries and comfort him without him even explicitly needing to ask for it...
Isn't that why he started oddly liking her so much, despite them not even having spoken that much? Kiyomi doesn't look down him, she doesn't treat him as a child whenever he says something. She's willing to patiently listen to him at any moment, even when he suddenly sneaks in like this.
His heart pounds rapidly in his chest, and he avoids her gaze for a slight moment, desperately hoping the flush on his cheeks isn't as visible in the dark. ]
