[It would be interesting to get to know them better, he thinks. Usually, he's off doing ~Amagiri things~ and just doesn't have the chance, and it isn't as if they meet so often, but... Well, it'd be worth it to see someone else trying to get Kazama to listen, for once.

Someone else who doesn't have to be polite to him, at that.

To think that Shiranui has a strained relationship with his ancestor as well... that's not even a surprise, honestly. Both Kazama and Shiranui... well, they just don't function in the same way. The differences are much too stark, and as far as Amagiri is concerned, both of them have forgotten how to respect their betters, such as their ancestors.

....But then, they're also not quite so lucky in their ancestor as he is, so. SO SUCK IT Still, such disrespect probably shouldn't be excused, and he can't blame the older demons at all.]

...It would be an honor to accompany you.

[He also knows what name is missing there. It would be impossible not to, when Kazama's entire obsession is over poor Yukimura. But he won't bring it up either. Honestly, knowing the pain it brings Kazutake, it just makes Amagiri's distaste over Kazama's actions even more fervent.]

It would appear as though there have been...changes in the mentalities of some. ["some". aka kazama and shiranui] That does not make them correct, however.

I would not disagree.

[ Shiranui.. well, he can sort of live with that one, mostly since Kazutake of all people knows very well just how terrible Shin could be at times (oh so I angered these two guys Kazutake can you take care of them while I nap.... sounds like a normal tuesday...) and Shiranui - from what he's seen - seems just as freespirited as his ancestor, just in a more modern way.

Kazama though? Lost cause. He can't even see how he and Chitose are related, they don't even share the same negative qualities to begin with..

And although the stories about Chizuru he does know she's not a lot like Kazuya either. Maybe he and his grandson really are the only exceptions to this rule, huh.. considering that even if Amagiri is even more stoic than him, he just thinks it's a matter of the times. Amagiri hasn't had as much time to fool around or hang out with friends as Kazutake has, and it shows in how he's slower to smile or show emotions.

Even so, there's a lot of himself he can recognize in his descendant. And he surely would never complain about that - he grew into a man Kazutake can be proud of. ]

Perhaps we are the "strange" ones then, so to speak. Although I certainly pity the others for not being able to spend time with their offspring such as this. I could recommend it to them.

[ Even if it makes him sound like a grandpa.. but it's true, hanging out with family is really what Kazutake enjoys best. It's what he's spent his whole life caring for, after all. ]

[Shiranui isn't so bad, it's true. Amagiri doesn't have so much against him, either, except that he can be a pain in the ass when he wants to be and when they should be fulfilling their debts so they can stop listening to crazy humans--but then, Shiranui has his own life, and his own problems. Amagiri can recognize that much, even if he doesn't really much like the trouble it causes.

But them, the strange ones...? The thought is amusing, even if not a lot of the amusement shows on his face. Because admittedly, they are the odd ones out, aren't they? He hadn't thought so, because it's so natural to act the way he does with his ancestor, but...]

...Perhaps we are at that.

[If they're the strange ones, better strange than right, he thinks. And it's clear Kazutake feels the same way--even said so outright, and honestly, it's the warmest feeling to receive that sort of praise. Grandpappy is too cute tbh. He thinks, around Kazutake, he could even, perhaps, let his guard down more.]

[ It's always good to hear that the feeling is mutual. Not that Kazutake can't read Amagiri - if anyone could, it's him - but hearing those words.. it's something special alright. Because he enjoys their time together so much too, it makes everything feel a little more worth it, despite the trouble he unknowingly put his own clan in.

It's why he definitely can't surpress the warm smile that appears on his mouth and in his eyes at those words. ]

Ah, when you talk like that, I can still remember the days when you were young. [ Not that he still isn't young compared to Kazutake, but.. you know, a kid. Even if it may be hard for anyone to imagine this guy as a child, Kazutake sure was there to witness it, and judging by his expression that time consists of fond memories. ]

Some days it seems as if it were yesterday that you first asked me to teach you our way of fighting. You were still so small..

[ Warning: grandpa's reaching embarrassing levels... but it's just true, okay!! His!! Cute!! Grandson!! ]

Okay but no really, Amagiri is embarrassed. His surprise even shows on his face for a moment, as he blinks at Kazutake and his fond reminiscing.

("But grandpaaaaa, i'm a full grown demon nowwwww, don't talk like that...!!")

Okay no maybe not quite like that, but it is embarrassing. A moment later, though, a resigned (and amused) sigh escapes him, and his shoulders slump.]

Ah... [It's true enough. He's learned a lot of what he's capable of from his grandpappy]

It has served me in good stead during these difficult times. [Because grandpa is still a badass honestly.] Though...

[ AT LEAST HE'S SORT OF AWARE OF IT THIS TIME.. it's just that he doesn't care.. as long as the other demons are around this much should be fine, okay, he's just thinking of the good times with he was still a cute little tiny Amagiri!!

(Maybe it's to make up for the fact that Kazutake was practically already in the kitchen making riceballs for everyone ever when he was a little kid.. the Amagiri kid life, you never have much of those cute moments to reminisce about..) ]

Are you embarrassed of those times, Kyuuju? [ He's smiling, but it's not really like he's teasing him or anything. It's more just that he can't help but think that's adorable.. wow, he never thought he'd ever be in the doting position, but look at him now. Who let this embarrassing daddy reproduce.. ]

[So much doting.... he was clearly meant to be an embarrassing daddy and grandpa though, this was inevitable. The universe would not have been right if he had not reproduced.

So Amagiri just relaxes a little more, because even if the doting is super embarrassing, it's...also kind of nice? This is definitely...what it's like to have a home. Having a family means having a home. So long as there is this warm feeling to return to, what more could he possibly need?]

... [grandpa might be biased (no amagiri was definitely a well-behaved child)] I cannot say it isn't...entirely not embarrassing to reminisce in this fashion.

But...nor is it bad in any way.
