( CHARACTER INFORMATION )

Name/Work Name: Asahi Yuki, work name will be Naoko
Canon: Iris Zero
Canon Point: After the most recent chapter (33.5!)
AU/CRAU: nope!
Age: unspecified in the manga, although she's high school age so I'd say around 16 or 17.
History: there's a summary here on tv tropes but i have permission to use a friend's history which they wrote out here!

Personality: Asahi is the kind of person who is difficult to not notice, really. She's definitely an overly loud person, and her reactions to things are usually a little over the top to a point where it's comical and overly dramatic in most cases (like dramatically pointing while stating something). She's an energetic and somewhat spunky kind of person. She seems to have no problems with dragging people along by grabbing their arm or 'pat' people on the back which ends up being more like smacking them there. It would be appropriate to say she can be a little forceful, like for example when she takes the lead and just proclaims they're all going to buy a present for Koyuki together. Rather than just forceful Asahi can be downright violent too, and she is rather prone to somewhat violent temper tantrums - even when she was little she already shoved Toru for telling people about her Iris, and even now she still often has them, especially when she gets embarassed to a point where it's tsundere-like. (When Toru told her to go hide in the boys' bathroom for a plan, she just punched him and when he told other people about it afterwards Asahi started blushing again and saying "T-- that was for telling a girl to wait inside the boys' bathroom!")

One can imagine that because of this, she tends to come across as very tomboy-ish. And Asahi herself seems to be caught in this image of herself as well, considering she does like cute things but she thinks they wouldn't suit her as much. An example of this is when she notices some cute cellphone charms, but she just thinks they're 'too cute for her' and that they would suit a 'cute girl like Koyuki' more.

Another thing about Asahi is that she has a very, very strong sense of justice - the reason for that or at least something strictly related to it will be discussed in a bit. When talking about her future career choice at school she states she wants to become a police officer, and everyone does know that sort of thing would suit her exactly because of her strong sense of justice. She's very protective of her friends as well, always rushing in to help them whenever it's needed. She would even go as far as lying for her friends, which (as we will see) is a big deal for her. She would even help out strangers, like when she goes to help out Kuga at first with the guy who lied when he confessed to her - "I hate it even more when some guy lies to a girl just to mess around with her." Asahi can't just stand around and watch injustice being done to people, no matter what.

But where did that strong sense of justice come from? It's all related to Asahi's Iris - a special power (almost) everyone in her canon has, which gives them the power to see special 'things', and it's different for each person. The power of Asahi's Iris is to see when people lie. If people consciously tell a lie, she can see a devil's tail growing out of their back. Because of that, Asahi has seen people lying around her all her life. "People will lie in order to deceive each other. However, that was accepted as normal.." But the problem is that Asahi exactly can't accept those lies. She can't help but see lying as something bad, no matter what and no matter the reason behind it. "People lie to protect something, but she sees it as a lie no matter what reason there may be behind it." Because of that she hasn't exactly been socializing much in her past. It was difficult for her to get close to peopel, since her Iris would make the people around her who know about it awkward, considering nobody would want their lies to constantly be exposed to one of their friends. In one of the earlier chapters a few girls talk about Asahi and already mention that "Yuki-san's kind of hard to approach." She mostly gets close to people who don't lie a lot exactly for these reasons, like Koyuki, Hijiri and one honest teacher.

She gets a lot better about it though around the start of the series. Thanks to help she comes to realise that not every lie is as bad as the other lie, it's about the reason behind the lie rather than the lie itself. Sometimes it's okay to lie if it's for the sake of others. (In fact, as mentioned above she later does lie at least once to protect Toru.) This change in her way of thinking is symbolized by her career choice change from police officer to lawyer, and she herself states about it: "I thought my Iris was there to see through people's lies and denounce them for it. But I thought a little more after what happened. I wondered if I could use my Iris to see through people's lies, and help them to see the true meaning behind that lie.." But as a side note it has to be said that even though she's gotten a little better about it, she states in a later chapter that she's still always checking if everyone is lying or not - like some sort of nervous habit.

To end with a few random notes about Asahi: she's absolutely frightened of ghosts, to a point where - for example - she drags Koyuki with her to the bathroom in the middle of the night since she's too afraid to go alone because of ghost stories. Ghosts are enough to reduce her to a wibbling and screaming mess most of the time, really. She's also bad with bugs and just anything remotely horror-related. Asahi likes sweets (especially chocolate) and she can be said to be somewhat of a romantic - in the sense that she gets all sparkly eyed at seeing people confess to each other or even a girl talking to Toru (immediately imagining there's ~*more*~ going on there).

Debt: When she was a little kid she told other people that Toru was an Iris Zero (a person without an Iris) when she was mad at him. This practically ruined his life and caused him to be bullied and singled out even to the present day after that - she'll be working to work off the "debt" she owes him because it's her fault.
Suitability: It will certainly bother Asahi. She will do the work since there's a part of her that recognizes that she did agree to it herself, even if it was a trick considering the terms weren't exactly made full clear by the time she agreed, so there's a sense that she has to take some sort of responsibility for that. But she'll harbor a deep hatred towards a witch for tricking people like that to begin with since even though it's more that she omits information when making people sign up instead of downright lying, it still tiptoes the line with lying close enough for Asahi to be extremely pissed about it. She won't particularly hide that opinion of the witch either if she can help it.

Previous Game Info: n/a

Inventory: Just her clothes and the present she got from the guy she was with right before arriving here, which is a gift-wrapped handkerchief.

Abilities, Strengths, and Weaknesses: Asahi has an "Iris". It's basically a power that most children in her world are born with and the exact nature of the power is different for each person. They all have in common that an Iris lets you see something that usually can't be seen, like what will be for dinner tonight or which person is best suited for a task. Asahi's Iris is the power to see lies. Whenever a person lies in front of her (or at least knowingly lies, if they're just saying something that's untrue since they don't know better then it won't count) she will see a devil's tail growing out of their back. I'll be putting up a permission post for this once I'm in the game!

Aside from that she's completely human though with maybe slightly above average strength for a girl her age - she nearly shoves someone over when she just tries to pat them on the back, whoops.
